About Us
When? Mathilde, originally from Paris, founded CARRON in 2014. She had previously co-founded the Astier de Villatte company, where she created numerous models.
Who? Mathilde and her son Charles pursue this family art story. Mathilde continues to create freely by paying homage to what she has learned from her grandparents and parents, inherited from her Parisian, Norman, Lotoise family, from her many inspirations from imaginary journeys in worlds as varied as Picasso, Egyptian and African art, the Douanier Rousseau, the American naives, folk art, ancient Greece, from Poussin to Ingres, such a great family...
What? Objects for sublimated life, entirely made by hand, cups, bowls, plates, platters, vases, salad bowls...
How? A black terracotta covered with a milky white enamel, the classic form reinvented, an inspiration from the mists of time, from primitive art to the sophistication of baroque, from simplicity to the modern style. The detail redesigned by the enamel transparency is the particularity of this faience, the imperfection magnified becomes a decor.
Where? Today, the workshop is based in Grabels, near Montpellier, and the Paris showroom welcomes visitors by appointment. In her Parisian studio, Mathilde created the first models, then, looking for more space, organization, sun and light, she entrusted Charles the small Parisian atelier, which became the brand's showroom. From the south of France, the creation settles according to the stays of Pierre, Mathilde, Charles ....
And the story continues...
